In July 2017 UiT The Arctic University of Norway hosted an international summer school, the 2017 Innovative Learning Institute for Circumpolar Health. Twelve nursing students attended the institute with the purpose to exchange experiences and discuss the possibilities and challenges of nursing in the High North.



The Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) and the Labrador North Chamber of Commerce (LNCC) host Northern Lights, a high-profile business and cultural showcase of Nunavut, Nunavik, and Labrador/Nunatsiavut. Northern Lights 2018 will be held at the Shaw Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, January 31-February 3, 2018.

This summer, UArctic Student Ambassadors Ian Lee and Carolyn Kozak as well as inaugural UArctic Student Ambassador Workshop participant Mike Brown convened in the little town of Hanover to partake in the 3rd Model Arctic Council held at Dartmouth College from 26th-30th June.


Scholars and researchers from the eight Arctic Council countries can now apply for the Fulbright Arctic Initative, an 18-month collaborative research program which will begin in spring 2018 and run through the fall of 2019. Deadline: October 16, 2017 (international) or October 30, 2017 (US applicants).


UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Academia Borealis - The Academy of Sciences and Letters of Northern Norway, and Tromsø Research Foundation welcome nominations for The International Mohn Prize for Outstanding Research Related to the Arctic (The Mohn Prize).
