In July 2017 UiT The Arctic University of Norway hosted an international summer school, the 2017 Innovative Learning Institute for Circumpolar Health. UiT The Arctic University of Norway, Academia Borealis - The Academy of Sciences and Letters of Northern Norway, and Tromsø Research Foundation welcome nominations for The International Mohn Prize for Outstanding Research Related to the Arctic (The Mohn Prize). 

UArctic's Vice-President Indigenous, Gerald Anderson of Memorial University of Newfoundland has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR) for a five-year term. POLAR was created by the Canadian High Arctic Research Station Act, which came into force in 2015.
