Inter-Nord 23 contains a special section dedicated to Iceland and also features artwork by Icelandic artist Þóra Sigurðardóttir.
Another special section of the issue pays homage to Jean Malaurie who passed away at the age of 101 in February 2024.
Inter-Nord is the only French review on the Artic that is both international and interdisciplinary.
Inter-Nord was founded by Professors Fernand Braudel and Jean Malaurie in 1960 at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). In 2021, Jean Malaurie appointed Jan Borm, UArctic Chair in Arctic Humanities, as the new Chief Editor of this prestigious review which is now published by the Malaurie Institute of Arctic Research Monaco-UVSQ.
The 23 issues published to date contain articles of more than 300 authors representing a polar encyclopedia of over 6500 pages. Inter-Nord accepts scientific articles, as well as pieces of creative writing, interviews, book reviews and other writings about the Arctic. It also welcomes illustrations of artwork.
