This Special Collection brings together studies on the evolution of the physics and bio-geochemistry of the atmosphere-ice-ocean Beaufort Gyre system, including its boundary and source regions, and its relationships to the pan-Arctic and global oceans. Papers in the collection draw on data from more than two decades of intensive field observations in the region, remote sensing programs, theoretical analyses, and modeling studies that shed light on the atmosphere-ice-ocean interrelationships associated with the changing Beaufort Gyre.
