The book “Unconventional aspects of human security in the Arctic” elaborates on the multiple vulnerabilities and threads facing the Arctic population, with a specific reference to the Barents region from the viewpoint of human and social security. The topics expressed in the volume are of those of the individual authors of each chapter. The topics cover: the analysis of legal pluralism in relation to indigenous peoples’ rights; risks of small and mid-sized entrepreneurs in the Russian North; digitalization and information sharing within the human security framework and finally the last chapter of the book addresses the food security challenges in the Komi Republic in the Russian North.
