The position
While anchored in one of the department's disciplines, the successful candidates will thus be expected to develop activities at a broader departmental level and contribute to a broad spectrum of Aarhus University’s core activities in the areas of research, teaching, talent development and knowledge exchange. We are seeking dedicated candidates who will contribute actively to the department’s academic environment.

Research
The positions entail work to strengthen the Arctic profile at the Department of Culture and Society through international research. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong research profile in Arctic studies, anthropology, archaeology, history, international studies or similar disciplines, who have proven expertise and research experience in the field of the Arctic region. The successful candidate will be part of the Faculty of Arts’ contribution to the Arctic Research Centre at Aarhus University. In the Arctic Research Centre (ARC) a large number of researchers from various disciplines – oceanographers, physicians, biologists, statisticians, geographers and geologists – already join forces to answer critical questions related to climate changes and the Arctic. The two postdoctoral scholars/assistant professors are expected to make contributions to the current research programme of ARC from the humanities with a focus on human interaction. We are particularly interested in candidates who are working with one or more contemporary issues such as climate change and pollution, exploitation of natural resources, health, education, social change and other similar fields.

Teaching
The successful candidates will be responsible for teaching courses on the department's degree programmes and for developing new courses in the Arctic region for students across the humanities.

Knowledge exchange
The successful candidates are expected to share knowledge with various sectors outside the university and to be active in the general public debate.
