The purpose of the meeting, which will take place in the offices of Cisco Systems Internet Business Solutions Group, is to advance work on the AICTA project and its report, due out in the fall of 2008.

UArctic will be represented by University of Lapland's Leo Pekkala, Chair of the Arctic Learning Environment.

The AICTA is a project of the Arctic Council’s Sustainable Development Working
Group. The overall goal of the proposed assessment is to determine how Information and Communications Technology (ICT) can increase the human and social capital in the North, contribute to northern economic development, and improve the quality of life in the Arctic. These goals correspond with the goals of the Arctic Council in order to support the sustainable development in the Arctic in social, economic and environmental issues.
